USA donut shops watch your back! Donuts are getting progressively more popular on all five continents. In 10 or more years of traveling, Belshaw International Sales manager Alan Craker has seen creative people making beautifully crafted donuts in many places, from Nigeria and Tanzania, to Indonesia and Australia, with hundreds of stops in between.
One example - Budapest, Hungary.
A city with great tradition and history in the smack dab in the center of Europe. Alan visited three specially creative donut shops in this tourist destination (with sincere apologies for any omissions).
Mr Funk and Ms Bagel - A combined donut and bagel sandwich shop with a truly impressive interior, that just opened on October 14 this year. Check out the ceiling and overhead lighting, the flooring and signs. And – how often do you hear this? – you have to see the multi-colored rest rooms! Their donuts and sandwiches look just as terrific.
The Donut Box – The Donut Box has dispensed with the old-fashioned round donut, in favor or square raised donuts with inventive toppings and fillings. Not to be confused with the Donut Box in Memphis, TN! Fabulous!
The Donut Library – No, not a place to borrow and return donuts! It’s where coffee, donuts and books mingle together. And the web site has a short ‘n sweet video of how it’s done, and it looks wonderful.
Congratulations to all 3 donut shops, and all the other shops in Hungary for taking the art of creative donut making into new territory! Belshaw hopes to work with any and all future donut shop owners, no matter where in the world you may be!
